LaSalle Guard Ramon Galloway Puts Together Quite the Productive Week

Let’s be serious, did anybody have a week that was comparable to LaSalle guard Ramon Galloway?

Galloway starred and virtually won both games for the Explorers this week, advancing his squad to 14-5 overall and 4-2 within the Atlantic 10 Conference. What’s most impressive? He did so against the league’s two nationally ranked squads in back-to-back games, scoring the game-winning basketball against Butler earlier this week and then dropping 31 points on the road at VCU.

I’d say that’s quite the week.

On Wednesday night, following a made bucket by Butler forward Andrew Smith, Galloway went the distance, driving left and scoring with only a few seconds remaining. The upset victory sparked a court storming, which you can see in the video clip below:

Days later, on the road at VCU, Galloway and LaSalle did it again. His 31 points led the way, as the Explorers kept VCU at bay following a nine-point halftime advantage. The Rams virtually had no answer for Galloway, as LaSalle inserted themselves into the NCAA Tournament discussion following an impressive week.

Galloway on the other hand, who leads the team at 17.2 points per game, may have single-handily put himself into the A-10 Conference Player of the Year race, while also helping LaSalle’s case amongst the conference’s elite.

If Galloway can continue his stellar play, the Explorers will have a legitimate chance to dance come March. However, LaSalle can’t be satisfied off the simple fact they have now secured back-to-back wins against ranked opponents for the first time since 1952. Sure, that’s a great accomplishment, but there is plenty of basketball to go.

LaSalle will play host to a UMass squad who is looking for a statement win in their own right this upcoming Wednesday.
