Time for Indiana State Sycamores to make a statement in conference play on Tuesday night. They travel to Wichita State to take on the Shockers, who currently sit atop the conference standings with the Sycamores currently positioned in third.
Although it will be tough to go into Charles Koch Arena, the Sycamores may just have a team that is capable of pulling off the upset. The Sycamores will have to rely on their junior point guard Jake Odum to control the game. He will have to look to score and get into the lane to open up some outside shots for guys like Lucas Eitel and Manny Arop. It will be tough to score on the Shockers as they rank at the top in conference for most defensive stats, however, if they can control the pace of the game and limit the fast break points for the Shockers, they could have a good chance at winning.
This could come as a trap game for the Shockers as well, as they just came off of a blowout win against Bradley and they travel to Northern Iowa on Saturday. The Panthers always play them tough and it’s a road game for Wichita State. Look for the Sycamores to come out and set the tone early. They need to take care of the ball and play good defense if they hope to get an important conference road victory. Any chance at a bid within the NCAA Tournament relies heavily upon the Sycamores’ ability to win games like this one on Tuesday night.
