Miami (FL) Hurricanes Are a Serious Threat in the ACC

With a victory over the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils, the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes did not only get the attention of the ACC , but the entire nation as well.

Miami entered ACC play with three losses on the year, but they are off to a 6-0 start in conference play, which has them placed at the top of the conference.

The Hurricanes have already beaten North Carolina and Maryland and the win against Duke made their resume that much better. However, Miami is probably less worried about their resume and more focused on winning an ACC title.

The blowout win against Duke made this feat an actual reality. It is not everyday that the Blue Devils get beat by the score of 90-63. The Hurricanes followed up that victory with another impressive win over the Florida State Seminoles by the score of 71-47.

It is hard to believe that Miami has a chance to win the ACC, considering that Duke has knocked off a couple of top five teams this season, but out-of-conference schedules mean nothing once conference play begins. If Miami can pull off the win against North Carolina State on Feb. 2, it has to be the team to beat in this conference, or at least for the time being.

Miami is off to a great start in ACC play and although there is still plenty of basketball to be played, this team is a serious threat in the ACC–just as Duke and North Carolina– and it will show in the rankings when the new polls are released.
