Duke Blue Devils Preparing to Fly South

Daniel Shirley USA Today Sports

This weekend will bring somewhat of a key matchup in the ACC.   As the Duke Blue Devils prepare to take their show on the road to Tallahassee to face the Florida State Seminoles, they will do so under some pressure.  Duke is heavily favored in this game, and there are not many people picking the Seminoles to win.  With FSU sputtering and Duke on a roll, the Blue Devils will be the ones that have to show focus and execute their game plan.

The Seminoles will enter the game having won their previous game against Maryland from a game-winning shot by Michael Snaer.  FSU has been on an up and down roller coaster after winning the ACC championship last season.   Playing this game on their home floor, FSU is desperate to get a win of major proportions to help jump-start their tumultuous season, in hopes of defending their ACC title with honor come March.

Contrary to popular belief, North Carolina is not the team that has given Duke the most trouble in recent years.  Florida State beat Duke twice last season, and has also defeated Duke several other times during the Leonard Hamilton era in Tallahassee.  Seth Curry and company must show up to the Leon County Civic Center and play a great game.  They will not have an excuse to not show up and dominate against an inferior team.  Great teams begin to peak around this time of year and it’s likely that Duke will continue to roll on their quest to have a special season.
