The No. 3 Indiana Hoosiers had their way against instate rival Purdue Boilermakers, winning by the score of 97-60. There was definitely no Boiler Up in this one, with Indiana taking a 20-point lead into the half.
Sure, the Boilermakers were not given a chance against Indiana, but it is still a pretty disappointing loss. Purdue entered Big Ten play with an absolutely horrible record, but surprisingly got off to a great start and even knocked off the Illinois Fighting Illini when they were ranked, but pretty much everyone achieved that feat.
Purdue is now 4-4 in the conference and ranked seventh overall. This team will likely not be dancing, while Indiana still has a chance to pull off a No. 1 seed.
The Hoosiers only have two losses on the year and are currently tied at the top of the conference with a 7-1 record. Michigan is the other 7-1 team.
Beating your in-state rival is one thing, but beating them on their own court by 37 points is a whole different ball-game. Indiana really handed it to Purdue.
Indiana and Michigan will go head-to-head in Bloomington, with the No. 1 ranking possibly on the line. These two teams will meet once again at the end of the season, but whoever wins the first contest on Feb. 2 will have some serious bragging rights at the top of the Big Ten Conference. Oh yeah, Purdue will take on Northwestern next. Boiler Up!
