Miami (FL) entered today at 14-3 and 7-0 in ACC play.  On top of a conference with the names of North Carolina, Duke, and North Carolina State and today they proved they deserve to be there.  The Hurricanes entered North Carolina State’s own gym today, a place where the Wolfpack were 12-0 and thanks to a Reggie Johnson tip in at the buzzer, are now 12-1.

Miami battled hard today and played with a great amount of toughness that every good team has.  The Hurricanes started off the game on top, but trailed at half time by 10 only to regain the lead and lose it again in the second half.  With under two minutes left, on the road, Miami came back from down five to win the game on a tip-in with 0.8 seconds left.  That is how a good team wins on the road and handles runs during a game.

Reggie Johnson keeps showing signs of improvement since coming back from his injury.  He had his best game since coming back and that is only going to make Miami better.  Johnson recorded 15 points and a team high eight rebounds in the Canes victory.

Johnson’s injury also made Miami a better team.  It allowed for players like Kenny Kadji, Julian Gamble, and Trey McKinney Jones to get a lot better and that is only going to make Miami that much better.

A bright spot today for Miami was their ability to win without shooting well from behind the arc.  Miami was only 3-21 from the perimeter, but Durand Scott and Shane Larkin were able to get to the basket to score.  Larkin, Scott, Kadji, Johnson, and Gamble all scored in double figures tonight and that is a bright spot for every good team.

With balanced scoring and the toughness Miami showed today to go on the road and beat a team like the Wolfpack proves that not only is Miami the best team in the ACC, but one of the best teams in the country.
