Reggie Johnson’s Game-Winning Tip Strengthens Miami (FL)’s Hold on ACC (Video)

In what may end up being Saturday’s most exciting college basketball game, the Miami (FL) Hurricanes edged the North Carolina State Wolfpack by the slimmest of margins.

Trailing by one, Hurricanes’ guard Shane Larkin missed a leaner, but Reggie Johnson got great position on the weak side for the game-winning tip. Johnson’s basket with 0.8 seconds remaining ended up being the difference despite the Wolfpack’s desperation heave rattling in and out from over half court.

Stunned by Johnson’s game-winning tip in, North Carolina State must now regroup following a devastating home loss that dipped them to 5-4 overall within the ACC. As for those pesky Hurricanes, well they not sit at 8-0 in the conference, a mark that is good enough for a two-game edge within the standings.

The victory on Saturday added yet another monumental mark for the Hurricanes this season. Miami (FL) is soaring up the polls and deservedly so following a few convincing upsets and eight consecutive wins within the league.

While there is still over a month remaining in the conference portion of the schedule, the conference is certainly undecided at this point. However, Miami (FL) is instantly imposing themselves as the team to beat as the month of February kicks off.

Johnson, who missed time earlier in the season, was widely considered to be the team’s key to success and although he was the hero on Saturday, the Hurricanes have proven their worth with a number of contributors that continue to make plays.
