The highlight of the day (or at least for the time being) came from the North Carolina State, Miami (FL) showdown in Raleigh.

Freshman guard Rodney Purvis, who headlined a highly-rated recruiting class for Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried soared in off a missed shot attempt that perfectly came off the back iron.

Purvis cut middle, rose up for the rebound and threw down a highlight reel put back that had shades of Blake Griffin. Purvis was so high above the rim that he basically caught the ball and threw it through the rim.

Check out the video clip below:

Purvis had a solid game on Saturday afternoon, finishing the contest with 13 points and four rebounds. However, none were more impressive than this ridiculous throw down.

The Hurricanes provided the Wolfpack with an incredible game, once again proving their worth. Miami (FL) forward Reggie Johnson tipped in the game-winning shot in the final seconds of the game to win the game in thrilling fashion.

A huge, statement win for Miami keeps the Hurricanes in control atop the conference. At 16-3 overall, the most impressive part of Miami’s mark is their 7-0 record within the league.

For Wolfpack fans, another win at home against a ranked opponent would have been great, but thanks to Johnson and his game-winning tip, the highlight of the day that N.C. State fans will have is this Purvis throw down.

Well, I mean at least this can be watched over and over again, although the highlights from the game will certainly be tough to swallow in Raleigh.
