The Ohio Valley Conference doesn’t get as much attention as other conferences during basketball season, but in Eastern Kentucky‘s win over Southeast Missouri State there was a dunk that many will be talking about for the next week or so.

An EKU player passed the ball inbounds to Marcus Lewis who then slammed it over SE Missouri’s Nino Johnson. It should be noted that Marcus Lewis is 6’4″ and 185 lbs, Nino Johnson is 6’8″ and 230 lbs.

Although Lewis only scored 10 points in EKU’s 81-72 victory, his two-point slam will make the front page of an Eastern Kentucky newspaper tomorrow morning.

EKU is having a very good season so far, with a 17-6 record including wins over Morehead State and Murray State last month.  They will have to take on rivals Morehead State for the second time next Saturday on the road. The nation should take notice of the EKU Colonels, there is a chance they maybe representing the Ohio Valley Conference in the NCAA Tournament.

As for Marcus Lewis, he will remember this day for the rest of his life. He is only a junior and has plenty of time to make highlights, but none like this one.

This is why college basketball is so great, there can be a ESPN SportsCenter top 10 play at any second, from any player– even if that player is from a Ohio Valley conference team. Luckily there are still two more months of highlights to look forward to.
