Florida Continues SEC Dominance Against Ole Miss

By Trevor Lowry

As if the No. 4 Florida Gators couldn’t look any better, they dominated the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels at home. The rest of the SEC might as well throw in the towel now because it is over.

The Kentucky Wildcats may have been good last year, but the Gators are absolutely blowing teams away. Tonight was the closest conference game that Florida has had all season and it still managed to win by 14 points. Nice try Ole Miss.

Four Gators scored in double-digits tonight, with Erik Murphy leading the way with 19 points in the contest. However, give Ole Miss’ Marshall Henderson credit for going off for 25 points in the game.

This Florida team will likely be No. 2 when the new rankings come out, but it could certainly make a case for being the No. 1 team in the nation. At this point, there really doesn’t look like anyone in the SEC that can challenge the Gators, but games against rival Kentucky will likely create a lot of buzz.

The Wildcats have dominated the Gators in their rivalry, but Florida can probably gain some ground this year. Billy Donovan‘s team is currently 18-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the conference. At this rate the Gators will likely run the tables in the conference. The next best team in this conference is 6-2, but this does consist of three teams.

Up next for the Gators will be on Feb. 5 against the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road. All I have to say about that game is good luck to the Razorbacks because they are going to need it.
