North Carolina Can't Overlook Wake Forest

North Carolina is set to take on Wake Forest tonight, but the Tar Heels can’t overlook the Demon Deacons or they will walk away with terrible loss.  Carolina has a huge game on Saturday with No. 8 Miami who beat them earlier in the season.  After that, they have No. 4 Duke, how could you not look ahead if your the Tar Heels?

Carolina has won five of their last six games after starting 0-2 in ACC play.  They will be once again without versatile guard, P.J. Hairston who is still suffering from a concussion.  Wake Forest is 10-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference, but that doesn’t mean this team doesn’t have talent.

The Demon Deacons took Duke right down to the wire last year and fell just short of upsetting the Blue Devils.  You can’t lose to Duke by five points and not have talent and for that reason, UNC can’t come into this game thinking it is going to be a walk in the park.

Travis McKie and C.J. Harris can carry this team over a lot of teams in the country.  Harris averages 14.5 points per game and McKie averages exactly 15 a game.  Both players can score the basketball and aren’t afraid of the “big name” teams.

Devin Thomas is a pretty good big man and can play with just about everyone.  He averages 8 points and 8 rebounds a game and expect him to be challenging James Michael McAdoo, Brice Johnson, and the other Carolina big men.

Carolina will need to work hard on defense like they did against Virginia Tech.  They won’t be able to score as high of a rate without Hairston in the line-up and will need to get more hustle points and easy baskets caused by good defense.

The Tar Heels might be getting on the right path and can’t afford a slip up tonight because they have their two biggest games of the year back to back after tonight.
