Florida Needs to Figure Things Out Before Kentucky Matchup

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 2 Florida Gators went into Arkansas with all of the momentum in the world, but that all came crashing down after 40 minutes of basketball against the Arkansas Razorbacks. With that said, the Gators will have one game to figure it out before playing a very hot Kentucky Wildcats team.

Florida was literally killing SEC teams before losing to the Razorbacks. It is not like the Gators just lost, though, because they were down by as many as 27 points on the road against Arkansas and did not lead for a single second.

Next up, Florida will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home, which should bring back all of the Gators’ confidence, considering that the Bulldogs are 7-13 on the year with a 2-6 conference record.

After that game, Billy Donovan‘s team will take on rival Kentucky.

The Wildcats are on a four-game winning streak and are just a game behind Florida in the SEC standings. Kentucky has clearly been disappointing this season, but a weak SEC has gotten it back on track. The Wildcats are 7-2 in the conference and could be tied at the top with a victory over Florida. However, the Gators will obviously be playing with a lot of motivation, considering that Kentucky beat them like 20 times last year or three, but it still feels the same to Florida fans, I am sure.

Whether the case, the Gators will still enter that game ranked in the top 10 and possibly the top five and will be heavy favorites to knock off their rival, but they will only have one tuneup game before then.
