Marquette Golden Eagles Rebound In Big Way Against South Florida Bulls

It has been a difficult week for the No. 24-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles after being completely hammered by the Louisville Cardinals last Sunday. Marquette, luckily, was able to get the South Florida Bulls next on their Big East Conference schedule and pounded away for a 70-47 win. Marquette moves to 16-5 for the season and 7-2 in the Big East. South Florida fell to 10-12 and just 1-9 in the Big East. This was a game that Marquette had to win, no matter what.

The Big East is an obstacle course every time a team plays these days and with some teams moving on to other conferences–or, like Marquette, forming their own conference in the next few years–things aren’t going to be the same soon. The biggest positive that came out of the game was a very balanced scoring output with five players scoring between eight and 13 points. It is team efforts like that one that will lead to Marquette making a run in the NCAA Tournament in just over a month.

Marquette is sitting right at the top of the Big East, but there were ten teams within two losses of each other in conference play going into Wednesday night’s games. Marquette has got games against four ranked teams the rest of the season before the Big East tournament with three of those games at home. They will need to win all three of those games if they want to clinch the top seed for the conference tournament. The Golden Eagles are dangerous and any future opponent should be worried.
