The Florida Gators will be without Will Yeguete…again, thanks to a knee injury.
The Florida forward missed the entire SEC tournament and NCAA tournament last season. That will hopefully not be the case this year, considering that Yeguete is one of the best defensive players that the Gators have on the roster.
Yeguete may only puts up six points per game, but it is his defensive abilities and 6.3 rebounds that Florida will miss in his absence. The forward is second on the team in rebounding, which is very crucial to the team, considering that the Gators only average 36.1 rebounds per game, which is good enough for 123rd in the country.
This could not have come at a worse time for Florida, since they are not a lock to win the SEC regular season title. The Gators just lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road. May I remind you that it was a very ugly loss, with Billy Donovan‘s team being down by 27 points at one time.
Kentucky has a bigger lineup, which is very bad for Florida. Yeguete would have made a huge difference on the defensive side of the ball, but he will obviously be out for that game.
The Gators have the talent to win without Yeguete, but he is a very important part to this team and he will be essential for Florida to go on a Final Four run this season.
