Texas A&M Aggies Fabyon Harris Sinks A Three Pointer To Beat Missouri At Home
Two ex Big 12 teams. the Texas A&M Aggies and the Missouri Tigers battled it out in SEC play at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas tonight. This was an impressive win for the Aggies who are 14-8 and 4-5 in the SEC. This upset over the number 21 ranked team helped boost up the Aggies confidence. When you play against a team that you know and win at home by 2 is a great feeling to have.
This was a battle all the way to the final buzzer and thanks to Fabyon Harris’ three pointer in the final seconds the Aggies prevailed. Harris had to redeem himself from turning the ball over and did by being under pressure. Harris handle the pressure and made sure his team would seal this needed win.
After the game, Harris commented on the play, “I wanted the ball because I know Coach was going to get on me because I turned it over at a crucial time,” Harris said. “It means a lot to me because I felt like I was letting the team down when I turned the ball over.” Coach Billy Kennedy put all the trust in Harris on the final play for the Aggies and wasn’t at all surprised that Harris bounced back.
The Missouri Tigers still can’t find a way to win a game on the road. They are 0-5 in true road games and need to figure out what the problem is yesterday. They still have 5 road games left before the SEC tourney happens. Tonight they had a chance but Phil Pressey decided to pass the ball to a Texas A&M fan and turnover the ball which gave Harris the chance to redeem himself.
The Aggies were the more aggressive team tonight, they played tough and fought all the way to the final buzzer. They played aggressive defense by putting pressure on the ball in the first half. The only problem was that they let up and let the Tigers come back from a 12-point deficit and take the lead by one point. When winning by this much so many teams slack off and lose their focus.
The Tigers had one more chance to win, but Keion Bell’s last shot attempt was blocked by Ray Turner. Bell fell and to the court stunned and sat there thinking about what could have happened. He even commented on the outcome of the game.
“The home team seemed like they were a little bit more of the aggressor at the beginning of the game,” Bell said. “We let them get off to an early lead and we had to fight our way back. We did a good job of getting back into the game, we just didn’t finish it.”
So one more game on the road that the Missouri Tigers didn’t finish strong. Missouri head coach Frank Haith said this about the losses on the road, “We just haven’t been able to do it…We’ve got to get better at that. It’s something we’ve got to get accomplished, but we’ve got a couple more road games and we’ve got to finish off some road games.”
So the question is, how can they finish strong on the road and come out victorious? I believe it is a mindset you need to have and you need to discipline yourself.
For the Aggies, winning at home is especially sweet against your ex-Big 12 team who followed you to the SEC. Kennedy said this about this win, “I’m really proud of the fight that our team had the first 10 minutes of the game,” Kennedy said. “We came out ready to play. We haven’t had good starts the last few games and we did a good job of sharing the ball and making shots.”
They played with heart and now they have a new hero in the name of Fabyon Harris who redeem himself tonight.
