Ohio State Needs A Big Week to Get Back Into Big Ten Race
Entering last week, the Buckeyes were right into the thick of things, but after two straight losses, Ohio State is two games back in the Big Ten standings. Although this is really not that big of a deficit, Ohio State could easily lose both of its games this week, since the Big Ten is by far the best conference in college basketball and all.
However, this team should have no problem against Northwestern this week. That game will be played at home for the Buckeyes. The game against Wisconsin on the road won’t be so easy, considering that the Badgers are a great team that just got done upsetting the Michigan Wolverines.
To get the job done, OSU can’t lose its defense, like it did against Indiana at home, giving up 81 points in the contest. Ohio State has a very good defense, but only one true threat in the scoring department in Deshaun Thomas. Thomas is averaging 20.1 points on the year, which is leading the conference in scoring.
The next highest scorer on this team is Lenzelle Smith Jr., putting up only 10.3 points per game on the season. This will obviously be a huge problem once the NCAA tournament starts. Another player on Ohio State has to emerge in the scoring department or else the Buckeyes will likely have an early exit in the big dance.
Whether the case, it will be a make of break week for the Buckeyes.
