After an undefeated week, Oklahoma State continues to climb the rankings and rightfully so. The Cowboys are now 17-5 overall and 7-3 in Big 12 play. They are also winners of 5 straight including a road win over at the time No. 2 Kansas. A young roster filled with an enormous amount of talent just keeps getting better.
Markel Brown and Marcus Smart lead the way for Oklahoma State and they aren’t to shabby of a combo. Smart, a freshman, is one of the most talented freshman in the nation and he is fun to watch. Brown is a junior who can shoot the lights out and he is also extremely athletic and can get to and above the rim. Smart averages 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3 steals per game. Not to bad of numbers, I’d say, and the kid is only a freshman, he is just going to keep getting better. Brown averages 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and he is also getting better every game.
Phil Forte is the Cowboys point guard, but only averages an assist per game as smart does most of the passing. Forte is an outside shooter who is undersized so he can’t really attack the hoop. He is also knockdown from the charity strike and closes out games for Oklahoma State. Forte is a nice player and puts up double digit points for Oklahoma State.
Don’t forget about Le’Bryan Nash either. The talented sophomore had so much hype last season, but didn’t have the talent around him to live up to it. This year he continues to get better and better as he plays forward even though he is at a size disadvantage. He records 13.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and is a key player for the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State has a talented bunch of players and just keeps on getting better. They are an exciting team to watch and can really score the basketball and get out and run. Watch out for the Cowboys come March, you don’t want to see them in your teams region!
