Can The Creighton Blue Jays End Their Two Game Losing Streak on Wednesday?
If you follow Missouri Valley basketball, you have all heard the story about Doug McDermott leaving his commitment from Northern Iowa to play basketball for his dad Greg McDermott and the Creighton Blue Jays. This game is circled by all Panther fans once the schedule comes out. There is not much love between the fans of Northern Iowa and the McDermotts.
Other than this storyline, there is a game to be played Wednesday and it looks as if it will be another good game. The Blue Jays come in struggling a bit and the Panthers are playing the best basketball they have played all year. The Blue Jays are led by McDermott in scoring at 23 points a game and the Panthers are led by Anthony James at 12 points a game.
Let’s take a look at the keys for each team.
The Blue Jays need to not play the style that Northern Iowa wants to. They need to get up and down and let McDermott go to work on the inside. For Northern Iowa, they need to keep playing the way they have been: slowing it down and hitting the open three when they get the chance.
Look for Gregory Echenique to play a key role in this game. He is a good defender in the low block and will try to disrupt the post game of the Panthers. The Panthers, on the other hand, need to have Matt Bohannon step up like he did against Bradley, come in and provide some offense to help the team.
This game looks to be another good one with excitement from the MVC.
