For any college basketball team to be successful, it must stay healthy. Although a great team this year, the Florida Gators are having a tough time doing so. Forward Erik Murphy is the latest injury, tweak or whatever you want to call it for the team, leaving last game a little early against Mississippi State due to an ankle injury.
However, according to Andy Hutchins of the Alligator Army, Florida’s Official basketball reporter said, he “is fine.” Well, if you are a Gators fan you are sure hoping so, since one of the Gators best defensemen, Will Yeguete, just went down with an injury and will be out for quite some time.
Not to mention, the Gators are about to take on their rival later on today in the Kentucky Wildcats.
The Wildcats got off to a disappointing start to the season, but have been just as hot as anyone as of late with a five-game winning streak. Kentucky has even impressed the AP Poll, being ranked No. 25 this week.
Florida will easily have the best backcourt against its rival, but it needs all of its big men to step up against a Kentucky team that consists of three great players that are 6’10’’ or taller.
With that said, hopefully Murphy will not feel any pain or discomfort in the game because the Gators will desperately need the 6’10’’ forward to come up big on both ends of the court.
However, keep in mind that Florida comes into this game with a top 10 ranking and is the No. 1 team in the SEC standings.
