Kansas Jayhawks Prove It was Pointless For Fans To Hit Panic Button

Kansas 83, Kansas State 62. Anyone who didn’t see this coming is clueless or a Kansas State fan.

No way were the Jayhawks going to lose four in a row. Not playing at home Monday night and not playing a Wildcats team that probably didn’t deserve to be in the top ten in the first place. Kansas pushed away its longest losing streak in eight years in style behind a sizzling 30-point performance from Ben McLemore and 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks from Jeff Withey.

The longest losing streak for Kansas since 2005 is history and it’s probably a safe bet it won’t lose another three games in a row this season.

“We just played as a team tonight,” Withey said in a post-game press conference. “We played Kansas basketball.”

And the Wildcats, well, I don’t know what they played, but whatever it was, it wasn’t good enough to take down Kansas. We live in a world where fans over-react to almost anything. Three-game losing streaks are extremely rare for a program like Kansas, so when it happens, some tend to think the team is in trouble.

Kansas was never in trouble. Good teams go through bad funks every once in awhile.  It’s comes with the territory of a long season. The fears of the sky falling were foolish in the first place.  Kansas is back on track and my guess it will use this win to push itself to play its best basketball when it matters most.
