In a league that looked like Kansas would run away with the win, Oklahoma State has turned the tides and now has a great chance to win the Big 12 Conference. The Cowboys are currently at 7-3 in conference play, sitting only a half game behind both Kansas and Kansas State, who are 8-3.
After going into Lawrence, Kan. and handing the Jayhawks their first home loss in a LONG time, the Cowboys have given themselves a shot to claim the conference. Oklahoma State has already lost to Kansas State, but that came on the road and the Cowboys will get their shot at revenge in their final game of the season as the Wildcats will head to Cowboy land.
Besides rematches with both Kansas and Kansas State, which the Cowboys are home for, their next toughest came will come against the rising Oklahoma Sooners, but the Cowboys will be home for that game as well. Oklahoma State should cruise through the rest of their schedule besides those three key games. Going on the road for Iowa State may call for an upset because it is a road conference game against an average team, but the Cowboys talent should be too much for the Cyclones.
With only three difficult games left and the Cowboys getting better as the season moves along, they have a realistic shot at a conference championship. Markel Brown and Marcus Smart will need to continue leading the way and have shown no signs of slowing down. With Smart and Brown and a favorable schedule remaining, Oklahoma State might have a huge surprise in store.
Don’t be surprised if the Cowboys shock the conference and take home the Big 12 championship come March. Smart, Brown and Le’Bryan Nash have this team rolling and there is no looking back now for the Cowboys.
