Wisconsin Has Had Quite the Turnaround This Season in College Basketball

After losing four out-of-conference schedule games, no one was talking about the Wisconsin Badgers entering Big Ten play. However, this team has had quite the turnaround.

I understand that losing four games before conference play even begins is not ideal, but those four losses came against four very good teams in the Florida Gators, Creighton Blue Jays, Virginia Cavaliers and Marquette Golden Eagles. All four of those teams will likely make the big dance this season.

Not to mention, victories against Arkansas and California were decent. Those two teams aren’t the best in college basketball, but they aren’t that bad either.

Well, the Badgers got everyone’s attention by knocking off No. 12 Illinois at the time. As if it couldn’t get any better than that, Wisconsin beat the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers (at the time) in the very next game. Keep in mind, that game was in Bloomington.

Then this team lost against Iowa and Michigan State in back-to-back games and then everyone forgot about the Badgers once again.

Not so fast. This team managed to beat the No. 12 Minnesota Gophers at the time in the very next game.

Now, Wisconsin is currently on a three-game winning steak with its last victory coming against the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines. The Badgers may have started the year off on a bad note, but they are only one game back in the Big Ten standings and have had quite the turnaround this season, so don’t let that 17-7 overall record fool you because Wisconsin is a very good and dangerous basketball team.
