Due to the game’s length, they expended lots of physical and emotional energy in the loss. Cardinals Head Coach Rick Pitino understands the pulse of his team, and knows that he needs to refocus them in order to finish the regular season conference season on a high note.
Pitino and his staff are most assuredly looking at their upcoming schedule and seeing the possibility that in two weeks, they will be leading the Big East. Louisville was the favorite of many analysts early this season to win the national championship, but in recent weeks have fallen off the radar.
However, the three of the Cardinals next four games are against the three worst teams in the Big East.
On the other hand, the Georgetown Hoyas, Marquette Golden Eagles, Pittsburgh Panthers, Syracuse Orangemen, and Notre Dame are all teams currently above the Cardinals, and all have much more difficult schedules.
Not only are the schedules more difficult, but many of these teams play each other so they are going to be beating up on each other for the next two weeks.
In the meantime, the Cardinals will be handling their business against lesser competition and climbing up to the top of the conference standings. The Cardinals will then have to face the Orangemen, which may very well be for conference supremacy.
The winner of the Big East regular season title will have some momentum going into the rugged Big East Conference tournament, which is what the Cardinals have their eyes on.
