The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off of a much needed victory over the Northwestern Wildcats, after two straight losses. However, the Big Ten Conference does not skip a beat and the Buckeyes will have to travel on the road to play the Wisconsin Badgers this weekend.
These two teams already met once this season and the Buckeyes won that game at home.
Ohio State will come into this game with a better ranking than Wisconsin, but that means nothing this time of the year, especially in a very competitive conference like the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are currently as high as No. 13 and the Badgers are currently as high as No. 19.
Although Indiana and Michigan State will likely win the regular season title for this conference, virtually five different teams could win it. Among these teams is Ohio State and it is currently two games back in the standings, so the Buckeyes cannot afford to drop a game against the Badgers this weekend. However, the same goes for Wisconsin and most teams in this conference.
Whether the case, this matchup should provide a very entertaining game, with two teams fighting for the Big Ten title and a good seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. However, victories and losses this late in the season also have huge implications on the seedings for conference tournaments.
Although a team clearly wants the highest seed possible, it may not matter in the very competitive Big Ten Conference this season. However, the Buckeyes would love to win on the road this weekend.
