Miami (FL) Hurricanes: The Top Team In the ACC Is Finally Ranked Like It

The best team in the ACC has finally been given the top ranking in the conference after the Miami (FL) Hurricanes leapfrogged the Duke Blue Devils.

It took until Feb. 18 for the media to finally give the Hurricanes a higher ranking than the Blue Devils with both major polls placing the Hurricanes as the third seed with Duke coming in at the sixth seed.

Voters, who clearly received their votes through a cereal box, have finally figured out a school who is undefeated in conference action at 13-0 is better than the 9-3 team. Some will argue the Blue Devils had the better non-conference schedule which is why they were ranked ahead of Miami for so long and there is merit to that argument. Unfortunately, the moment the Hurricanes destroyed Duke 90-63 it became painfully obvious who the better team in the nation was.

Why did it take so long?

Apparently the Blue Devils losing to the Maryland Terrapins 83-81 was the deciding factor to open voter’s eyes and reveal the Hurricanes truly are better at this point in the season. At least that is what they’ll use to explain their decision making when in reality the better brand name kept Duke on top over Miami.

If this was football, Miami would have been ranked higher the moment they dominated the Blue Devils. However, because it is basketball and Duke will always be the bigger school in this department there was constant hesitation to put the Hurricanes on top. Even though Duke had barely survived their previous three games before losing while Miami had blown out their competition.

Voters kept waiting for the Hurricanes to stumble so they could keep their precious Duke on top of the standings but unfortunately for them, Miami continued to prove this season is no fluke.

Justice has been served and the ACC’s best is now finally recognized with its top ranking in the conference.
