The Michigan Wolverines capped off an off-week with a drop in the latest AP top-25. The Wolverines lost against their rival Michigan State in embarrassing fashion and followed that up with a tight home win against the Big Ten‘s only winless team.

Penn State is 0-13 in conference play, but Michigan made them look like conference title contenders throughout the game. Trey Burke had one of his best games as a collegiate player, scoring 29 points– a season high– and dishing out five assists to guys like Glenn Robinson III.

Robinson III broke out of his slump in a big way as he scored 21, points and was perfect from the floor, while earning himself 11 trips to the free throw line. Before this game, he scored 18 points in four games, and against Penn State, he earned a tie for his career-high in the point category.

However, not all was well in Wolverine town after the win. Michigan had just one forward/center score during the game(Robinson III). This continues to be a problem for the Wolverines as Mitch McGary, Jon Horford and Jordan Morgan were all non-existent down low.

Together, the Wolverines big men outside of Robinson III played a total of 47 minutes, grabbed seven rebounds, dished four assists and got called for eight fouls. Overall, a sorry performance for the big men in Ann Arbor.

Their biggest problem all season long has been their post play and teams are starting to exploit that. The Nittany Lions outrebounded the Wolverines 33-23, and guess what? The Nittany Lions are the worst rebounding team in the Big Ten.
