Did we know the name Kelly Olynyk before this season?

Probably not considering he did not play during the 2011-12 year, but it’s not just west coast basketball fans who are aware of Olynyk’s potential and production nowadays.

Olynyk is averaging 18.0 points per game this season, leading the Gonzaga Bulldogs‘ continued pursuit of a No. 1 seed within the approaching NCAA Tournament. With his increased production on the court has come a rising NBA Draft stock that was once again on display on Wednesday night.

Take a look at the video clip below of Olynyk stealing the ball near half court and finishing an easy transition dunk:

It may not look like the greatest highlight reel in the world, but let’s be serious. That’s a 7-foot forward hedging out near half court and then simply stripping the ball away from a Santa Clara guard. Olynyk makes it look so easy and that only fittingly finishes with a reverse jam for two.

The above video clip is only a glimpse of Olynyk’s rising potential and just a tidbit of the many reasons why NBA scouts are beginning to salivate over the 7-footer.

Aided by Olynyk’s 14-point, seven rebound performance on Wednesday night, Gonzaga cruised to yet another win within the West Coast Conference. At 25-2 overall, the Bulldogs are already ranked amongst the nation’s elite, so there should be no denying their potential to run the table and grab a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance.

With that being said however, head coach Mark Few certainly knows that their is still plenty of work to be done.
