Cincinnati Bearcats Falling Apart During Three Game Big East Losing Streak
There was a time, not so long ago, that the Cincinnati Bearcats seemed like one of the top teams in the Big East Conference. However, thanks to a three-game skid, the Bearcats are more likely struggling for their NCAA Tournament lives rather than just seeding.
The three game losing streak doesn’t fully paint the whole picture either. Not only have they lost three straight, they have also lost four out of their last five games, making the days of their Big East greatness feel like a long time ago.
Cincy’s latest loss was to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a 21-point drubbing. Losing is one thing, but losing by a lot is another. It is hard to justify some of their losses, but maybe we should have seen this coming.
The Bearcats don’t have a ton of Top-25 wins. In fact, Cincinnati has only beaten two teams that were ranked.
Cincinnati already has 19 wins, and with three games in the regular season and the Big East Tournament left, I think it is safe to assume their NCAA Tournament chances are still high. Although, they have already lost to one of their last three remaining opponents, while it will be their first time facing the other two.
But, to be fair to all involved, one of those games is against the South Florida Bulls, which really means they have won one out of their last three already.
20 wins is the magical mark in a “BCS” conference, so with a game against South Florida still on the docket, the Bearcats will still, at worst, back their way into the big dance.
Sorry South Florida Bulls fan(s?).
