With only four games left in the Big 12 regular season the Baylor Bears believe they can still achieve their season goals.  To do that they will need to salvage the rest of the season and try to gain some kind of momentum heading into the postseason. They are right now .500 in conference and this win would put them in 6th place in the Big 12 standings. They need to hold off the seventh place West Virginia Mountaineers tonight as they hook it up in Morgantown. They are in desperate need of a win and playing on the road tonight won’t be easy for them.

The Bears have lost six of their last eight games and are 3-6 on the road in conference games. This road trip will be their longest one this year in the Big 12. They get to play in Morgantown against a very good coach whose team has not lived up to expectations. The last time these two teams played, the Bears beat the Mountaineers 80-60 which was a pretty high scoring game for them. Both of these teams are coming off of disappointing losses, the Bears lost to Oklahoma by 14 and the Mountaineers lost to Oklahoma State by 16 points.

For West Virginia to have a chance they will hope to exploit their strengths, which include: getting to the charity strip and offensive rebounding. Mountaineers are 3-7 on the road. They have yet to record a road victory over a team with a winning record this season. They need to win at home tonight against this Bears team who will be prepared to play tough to achieve their season goals. They are in a rough patch right now, after losing six out of their last eight, the Bears are close to playing their way out of March. Their one main goal is to make it to the Big Dance which is just around the corner. To acheive their goals they will need to win tonight.

These last few weeks are a race for 6th to clinch the Big 12 coference tournament first round bye. Pierre Jackson will put these Bears on his back and take home the victory. It doesn’t get any eaiser for the Bears when they host Kansas State on Saturday, travel to Texas and than host Kansas to close out the regular season. If they can win three of these games, they might have a chance to achieve their goal of making it to the NCAAB tourney.
