Over the weekend, the Butler Bulldogs were virtually overwhelmed while being blown out on the road at VCU.

The defeat marked the Bulldogs’ second consecutive loss and the first time all season long that they had dropped back-to-back games. At 22-7 overall, Butler has dipped down to a fourth place tie with Temple in the Atlantic 10 Conference as the last week has seemingly become about missed opportunities for the Bulldogs.

The A-10 Conference is currently headlined by both VCU and Saint Louis and the only true stat that suggests that Butler is a step below them is the fact that they went 0-3 against the two combined squads on the season.

In all though, there is no time to dwell on back-to-back losses. Butler must move forward, especially with another road game on the docket this Thursday at UMass.

With that being said, head coach Brad Stevens and the Bulldogs know a thing or two about winning in March. Butler is certainly destined for theNCAA Tournament, so their focus simply remains on closing out the season strong and making a run within the conference tournament.

Gearing up for March should go hand-in-hand with their ability to stay on track and move forward despite the back-to-back losses.

Overall, Butler missed some prime opportunities over the course of this past week to stake their claim and make a push at a regular season title. Albeit that is not going to be the case, the Bulldogs could certainly be the last A-10 team alive was all is said and done and that’s thanks in large part to an experienced coach who has been in this position before.
