North Carolina Tar Heels Gets Commit From Top Prospect Justin Jackson
I guess North Carolina Tar Heels coach Roy Williams still has it. The “it” being the ability to recruit the doors off the nation.
ESPN’s Dave Telep is reporting that the Tar Heels have got a commit from their second top 15 prospect on Monday. Justin Jackson, a 6’7 small forward, was ranked 14th overall in the Class of 2014. Jackson was also seriously considering the Arizona Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Cavaliers and Washington Huskies before deciding on North Carolina.
Jackson had an official visit to the Tar Heel campus over the weekend. He didn’t just jump to signing with UNC–as he still made a stop at the Arizona campus.
Here is Jackson on his commitment:
“I liked North Carolina a lot. I had a feeling I would enjoy it, but the visit sealed the deal.
“Coach (Roy) Williams is one of the best coaches to ever coach. The atmosphere was amazing. The game, the fans were great and I got close with some of the players. Marcus Paige was my host, so we hung out most of the time.”
Joel Berry was the other top 15 recruit that the Tar Heels have already scooped up. Berry is currently ranked–according to ESPN–as the 12th overall best junior high school prospect in the nation.
Considering the Tar Heels are not expected to have a ton of turnaround in the next few years–and an already great class coming in next year–Williams is doing a great job putting the Tar Heels in position to be a major player for the foreseeable future.
