Gonzaga forward Kelly Olynyk has earned all the hype that he has honed for his production this season.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Few probably has his best team in school history and these Gonzaga warriors have marched all the way up to the nation’s No. 1 rank. For all the talk that is circulating around the Bulldogs this season, the key ingredient for their postseason success however, is senior forward Elias Harris.

Following his freshman season in Spokane, Harris earned an incredible amount of hype and there was even talk about him potentially being a lottery pick if he had made the decision to leave for the NBA. However, Harris returned to the Bulldogs, but from a statistical standpoint, he has not matched his freshman numbers since.

As a senior though, Harris appears to be back into playing his own game and his production for Few and the Bulldogs could very well play a crucial role in Gonzaga’s run within the NCAA Tournament.

On the year, Harris is averaging 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He is capable of reaching the 20-point plateau however, having done so in the past on numerous occasions. In the postseason, a lot of that production can be more finely tuned, which leaves Harris in the spotlight. There is plenty of depth and opportunity among Gonzaga’s talented roster, but in terms of experience, it falls directly back on Harris.

Olynyk’s emergence may have certainly taken the Bulldogs’ success this season to the next level, but that goes hand-in-hand with Harris and his ability to score the basketball.

If Harris can produce and produce on a consistent clip, there will be no denying Gonzaga’s ability to make a run to the Final Four.
