The Florida Gators Lost Their Shot at a No. 1 Seed

It was only a couple of weeks ago when Florida looked like they were the best team in the country. Since then, the Gators have gone down hill a little and have blown their shot at getting a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament unless they get a lot of help from around the nation.

The 23-5 Gators have not played the most difficult schedule in America and that is in large part due to the lack of quality teams in the SEC this season. Florida has, for the most part dominated conference play, but that will not be enough to earn them a top seed.

Recent slip-ups in conference to both Missouri and Tennessee really ruined their chances, but when a team’s best win comes over Wisconsin early in the season, it didn’t really amount to much.

The Gators will still get a very good seed, but won’t be able to earn a number one seed for the most part.  That doesn’t mean this isn’t one of the best teams in the country, though.

Billy Donovan has always been a master when it comes to leading his team to a tournament run. This year, he has a large amount of talent to make yet another run come March Madness.

With Patric Young, Mike Rosario, Kenny Boynton and Erik Murphy, Florida has enough scorers to out-score any team. They can score in the paint with Young, attack the basket and they can definitely knock down the outside shot.

Florida ruined their chances at getting a No. 1 seed in the tournament, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t one of the best teams that will be in the field of 68.
