Franklin was efficient in the victory, scoring 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting, while also snagging 14 rebounds in the team’s 58-51 win. Air Force star Michael Lyons was kept in check for only ten points on 11 shot attempts, but the story of the game was about the Aztecs.
Winners of three of their past four games overall, San Diego State stayed a game above Boise State for fourth place in the conference with the victory. Now however, the Aztecs must go on the road to face the Broncos in a regular season finale that holds huge NCAA Tournament aspirations for Boise State.
The bad news for the Aztecs heading into this contest is that they have dropped four consecutive games on the road in conference play. They will have the opportunity to end that streak on Saturday, as well as potentially throwing a major blow to the Broncos’ at-large hopes.
In their win over Air Force however, the common thread was once again at its forefront for the Aztecs and head coach Steve Fisher. That statement bodes directly back to the production that Franklin provides San Diego State. His leadership and ability to stuff the stat sheet is crucial for their success here in March. First year Aztec J.J. O’Brien added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench in the win, which was just another key component to the team’s win.
San Diego State and Boise State will tip-off at 3:30pm (EST) on Saturday.
