March Madness: Cincinnati Bearcats Need Strong Finish to Better NCAA Tournament Seed
The Cincinnati Bearcats are currently in the NCAA tournament. Just ask ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, who currently has them as a No. 10 seed in the big dance. With that said, the Bearcats need to finish strong so they can improve on their tourney seed.
It is hard to believe that this team is being looked at as a No. 10 seed, considering that it was once ranked in the top 10 at one point in the season. However, six losses in eight games will do that to you every time.
Just in case people are still arguing on whether or not if this team deserves to be in the big dance, please stop. Cincinnati beat Oregon, Iowa State, Alabama and Xavier in its out-of-conference schedule. Not to mention, it beat Pittsburgh, Marquette, Villanova and Connecticut in its out-of-conference schedule.
The Bears are 20-10 on the season with an 8-9 conference record, so in all honesty, I can see where people are coming from when saying that this team is on the bubble. However, the Bearcats have done more than enough to prove its worth this season.
Now, to better that tourney seed, Cincy needs to finish out the regular season by beating South Florida–a loss in that game would look horrible this late in the season. Then, the Bearcats can go with the yearly Big East trend by winning games at will in the Big East tournament. Every year, there seems to be one team that goes on a crazy run in this conference tournament. Well, this is your year Cincinnati.
