“Survive and Advance”: It’s About Time They Made an ESPN 30 For 30 on Jim Valvano
If you’ve been watching ESPN recently, you have probably come across the commercials for the new season of 30 For 30.
The documentary, which will be entitled “Survive and Advance,” will focus upon the Wolfpack and their National Championship during the 1982-83 season. During that stretch, Jimmy V led his Wolfpack on ten consecutive victories down the stretch, going above and beyond expectations to win the title in dramatic fashion.
If you’re a college basketball fan, you’ve probably seen the clip a thousand times, but once again this is how they took home the crown that same year:
History aside, this is sure to be a documentary that you do not want to miss. So many people have been inspired by the work of the V Foundation over the years, and the inspiring fight that Jimmy V led during his last few years in life. A riveting speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards is continuously played year in and year out. In fact, just earlier this week was the 20-year anniversary of its deliverance.

The legacy that Jimmy V left behind continues to be carried over with college basketball representing the forefront into an era of cancer research. Their continued fight continues to inspire others, just like Valvano did throughout his lifetime.
