On Saturday afternoon, the semifinal round of the Big South Tournament unfolded and now the championship contest is set.

Offensively, it was the tale of two halves for Charleston Southern, who exploded for 46 point after the break en-route to a 71-65 victory over VMI. The Buccaneers, who were one of two top seeds from the Big South Conference, had been held to only 25 points in the first 20 minutes and actually trailed the Keydets at the break.

Arlon Harper however, was not about to let Charleston Southern’s dream of dancing come to an end in the semifinal round. The 6-foot-1 sophomore guard exploded for 33 points on Saturday afternoon, topping a 31-point performance from VMI’s Rodney Glasgow.

With the victory, the Buccaneers advance to the championship game of the Big South Tournament where they will face off against the tournament’s Cinderella, Liberty.

The Flames, a five seed in the tournament bracket, were just 6-10 in conference play this season and at 14-20 overall, the dream of dancing with that type of record remains in the fold. Liberty won a late and highly-contested battle against Gardner-Webb on Saturday afternoon as John Caleb Sanderspaced the way with 19 points to lead all scorers.

The championship contest of the Big South Tournament will take place on Sunday afternoon from Conway, South Carolina. Tip-off between Charleston Southern and Liberty is scheduled for 12:00pm (EST).

The winner of Sunday’s battle will go dancing next Sunday when the 68-team field is announced.
