What is black and red and has fallen very hard recently? No, it isn’t a nun that tripped down a flight of steps — it is the Cincinnati Bearcats.
The Bearcats were thought to be one of the best teams in the entire nation halfway through the season. Unfortunately for Cincy, their happens to be more than just 22 games in a college basketball season. Entering their final game of the regular season, the Bearcats have lost six out of their last eight games. The streak of losses have now put them firmly on bubble watch.
However, the bubble can wait for now. What good will being on the right side of the bubble be if Cincinnati is playing their worst basketball of the season. The ship needs to be righted before postseason play gets underway and the Bearcats have a chance to continue their losing ways.
Thankfully for head coach Mick Cronin, the South Florida Bulls is their final game of the regular season. South Florida is currently in a battle for Big East abomination with the DePaul Blue Demons. The Bulls only have three in-conference wins this season and a whopping 12 on the year. Cronin couldn’t have asked for a better team to play against to right their wrongs.
Sometimes it isn’t whether a team has fixed all their problems. Often, it’s just the team you are playing next happens to be so awful that you can’t do anything but win. Which in turn, will help rebuild the Bearcats’ confidence just in time for the postseason.
