Saint Mary's Gaels Entering Postseason Play Hot

The Saint Mary’s Gaels will enter the WCC tournament on fire and will likely carry their hot play into the NCAA tournament.

The Gales are currently 26-5 on the season, but have won their last 14 out of 15 games. The only loss in that span came against the Gonzaga Bulldogs, who are kind of good since they are the No. 1 team in the nation right now and all. Since that loss, Saint Mary’s has won five games in a row, including games against BYU and Creighton.

Gonzaga may be the team to beat in the WCC right now, but don’t count out Saint Mary’s just yet for the conference tourney. It is really tough to beat a team three times in a season–the Zags have beaten Saint Mary’s twice this year. Although it is not a guarantee that these two teams will play in the WCC tournament championship, it is very likely to happen. No other team in the conference has touched these two teams. Don’t let the Gaels’ two conference losses fool you because they were both against Gonzaga.

Whether the case, Matthew Dellavedova and the rest of the Gaels are on a mission to go on a deep run in the big dance. The way this team is playing right now, it would not be a surprise if they won the WCC tournament and made it to the Sweet 16 at the very least.

However, as hot as this team is right now, it will likely not look ahead to far because we have entered the month of March where anything can happen. The Gaels will take on San Diego later on tonight, which is a team that they have beaten twice already this season.
