Bubble Watch: LaSalle Explorers Will Dance With Run In A 10 Tournament
The La Salle Explores will make the NCAA tournament with a run in the Atlantic 10 tournament. However, that run may only need to be one game.
The Explorers are currently in the tournament field and they could make it with a loss and losses by other bubble teams this week, but they need to worry about themselves and win their first game in their conference tournament.
Considering that La Salle will likely have to play Butler in its first game of the tournament, a win over the Bulldogs would give them an at-large bid for the big dance. However, if Butler loses in the first round against Dayton, La Salle will likely have to play Saint Louis tough in the very next game, assuming that the Billikens beat the winner of the Richmond/Charlotte game.
However, making it to the championship game would not only put the Explorers into the tourney, it would help increase their seeding quite a bit.
La Salle beat both Dayton and Butler in the only matchups of the season, so you have to like the Explorers’ odds. However, both of those games were played at home for this team. The Explorers weren’t so lucky in the only matchup of the season against Saint Louis, which was actually the last game of the regular season. La Salle lost that contest on the road by 24 points.
Saint Louis is in, Butler is in and VCU is in. That means La Salle, Xavier (maybe), Temple and Massachussetts are all fighting to get into the dance. Two out of four of those teams will likely join the three locks in this conference and La Salle certainly has a great chance to join them.
