Bubble Watch: Villanova Wildcats Are A Very Dangerous Team

Who beats three top five teams on the season and is not granted a bid in the NCAA tournament? Exactly my point. A team like that will make it every time and that is exactly what the Villanova Wildcats have accomplished on the season, making this a very dangerous team in the Big East tournament and the big dance.

Villanova has definitely had an up and down season, being 19-12 overall and finishing 10-8 in the Big East. With this, the Wildcats earned the No. 7 seed in the Big East tourney, however, this is a very good No. 7 seed.

The Wildcats beat Louisville and Syracuse in back-to-back games this season–both teams were ranked in the top five at the time. They beat Connecticut, they beat Marquette and you better believe that they just got done beating the Georgetown Hoyas, who were ranked No. 5 in the country. If that is not enough to get you into the dance, then maybe March has gone a little too mad.

Jay Wright and the Wildcats will take on St. John’s in their first game of the Big East tournament. These two teams met once this year, with Villanova taking the contest in overtime.

If Villanova pulls off the victory in that game, it will take on Louisville. The Cardinals have been just as hot as anyone in college basketball as of late, but at least the Wildcats can say that they beat them this season. If Villanova beats Louisville then just put them in the dance and give that team the decent seed that it deserves. Also, the rest of the Big East better watch out if that happens because this tournament is one that loves seeing the underdog go on a crazy streak to win the whole thing.
