Kentucky Wildcats Forward Nerlens Noel To Have Surgery This Week

Kentucky Wildcats’ freshman phenom Nerlens Noel will undergo surgery on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Noel went down in February against the Florida Gators with a season-ending ACL injury.

Noel going down was just as about ugly as the final score against the Gators. Noel grimaced in pain and the O’Connell Center went silent. That is likely because Florida fans knew how valuable Noel was to Kentucky, they knew Noel was the future No. 1 draft pick and for the simple fact that no one likes to see anyone in that much pain.

Although Noel’s basketball career is being put on hold, it is time for him to undergo surgery to repair his torn ligament.

Noel was averaging 10.5 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, 4.4 blocks per game and 2.1 steals per game. Yeah, you could say that the freshman was very valuable to the team.

Surprisingly enough, Kentucky has been fine without Noel, winning their two biggest games of the season against Missouri and Florida. With those two wins, you would think that the Wildcats would easily make the NCAA tournament, but they will still have to do work in the SEC tournament to get their ticket punched for the dance.

Who knows if Noel will return for another year. Who knows if Noel will enter the NBA draft. And who knows if his draft stock will decline. All of those questions will be answered in the near future, but the bottom line is Noel will finally have his surgery and we are all hoping for the best for the talented Nerlens Noel.
