On Monday night, the Gonzaga Bulldogs claimed yet another West Coast Conference Tournament championship, taking care of business against Saint Mary’s for a third consecutive time this season.

Those three losses at the hands of Gonzaga mark half of the Gaels’ total losses this season. At 27-6 overall, Saint Mary’s must now play the waiting game on Selection Sunday and it hasn’t even taken a full day for rumors and comparisons to begin swirling involving the Gaels and their postseason potential.

Let’s be serious, Saint Mary’s really shouldn’t be worrying. Their numbers are good and their experience can make them dangerous. The Gaels should be dancing on Sunday and there should be no doubt about it.

Since Dec. 23, the Gaels have lost three games total and those defeats are the three aforementioned losses to Gonzaga. Sure, Saint Mary’s was unable to get even one quality win over the Bulldogs this season, but we do understand that Gonzaga is currently ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation, right?

That should speak for itself. No other team in the nation had to square off against the No. 1 ranked team in the country three times this season. That’s a fact.

Senior guard Matthew Dellavedova leads the charge for the Gaels and a Saint Mary’s squad that should have no trouble hearing their name called this upcoming Sunday. Saint Mary’s is a tournament team and a squad that if given the right draw could potentially make a little noise in the Big Dance.
