Marshall Henderson Will Need to Carry Ole Miss Into SEC Semis to Cement Resume

Despite a 23-8 record overall and a 12-6 mark within the SEC during the regular season, the Ole Miss Rebels are still sitting on the bubble heading into the conference tournament.

As the league’s No. 3 overall seed, the Rebels are in a unique position. Ole Miss has received the automatic bye into the quarterfinal round and although that may seem like a good thing, it does take away from the opportunity for a bubble team like the Rebels to pick up an early round win.

Either way, Ole Miss could play one of any three teams, although the likely candidate is sixth-seeded Missouri. The Tigers are virtually considered a lock for a spot in the Big Dance, so this game represents the exact situation that Ole Miss wants to be in. That of course is considering they can beat Missouri in that game.

The two squads split their regular season series, with each team winning on their home court. So, it’s only fitting that both Missouri and Ole Miss could potentially square off in a neutral court rubber match. While its only assumed that Missouri will be the team to advance, Ole Miss actually needs it to be the Tigers, so the two go hand-in-hand.

A victory over a Missouri team that is already headed to the Big Dance could be the exact boost that Ole Miss needs. However, the Rebels can’t be looking at things in that only light. There’s nothing better than that feeling of momentum and making a postseason run. You need a little swagger to do so. Well, Marshall Henderson may be the perfect guy in that regard.

If Ole Miss can get clicking, there’s no telling what Henderson and the Rebels are capable of.
