Miami Hurricanes Can’t Sleep on Boston College
Miami (FL) was rolling at one point and looked like the best team in the country, but a recent struggle to end the season has the Hurricanes slowly falling down the rankings and looking less and less like a title contender. Winning the ACC Tournament can put the Hurricanes right back in the conversation as a national championship contender, and that run starts now.
The Canes are set to take on an extremely young Boston College team in the quarter-finals of the ACC tournament today. Boston College has struggled for most of the year due to their youth, but they are a team that has great talent.
Yesterday, the Eagles overcame a 15-0 deficit to start the game against Georgia Tech and ended up winning by 20 behind a career performance from ACC Freshman of the Year Olivier Hanlan. Hanlan broke an ACC tournament record for points scored with 41 and he looked unstoppable yesterday.
Coming into today, the Golden Eagles are red hot and riding a great deal of momentum while looking to upset the top seeded Hurricanes.
Miami can not come into today after not playing for almost a full week and get off to a slow start. Ryan Anderson, Joe Rahon, and Hanlan have the talent and ability to carry Boston College over a lot of teams.
If Shane Larkin and Durand Scott aren’t hitting their outside shots Miami tends to struggle. Reggie Johnson will need to have a big game inside as no one on B.C. can really match-up with his great size.
On defense, the Canes need to limit the amount of outside shots they let Boston Collega have. The Golden Eagles knocked down 14 3-pointers yesterday and their hot shooting might just carry on over to today.
Miami defeated the Golden Eagles twice already this year, but the first time they met, the Canes only survived by one single point and Boston College is playing a lot better basketball right now. It is also extremely difficult to beat a team three times in one season no matter who the teams are.
Hanlan, Rahon, and Anderson all need to have big games if the Golden Eagles want to continue their miracle run to an ACC tournament title.
