2013 NCAA Tournament Profile: Duke Blue Devils
How They Qualified: At-Large Berth
This Duke Blue Devils team has been potent this season and for more reasons than just Ryan Kelly returning to action. Sure, Kelly is the Devils’ most valuable player averaging more than 14 points and five assists, but he is a piece to the well-rounded group that head coach Mike Krzyzewski has assembled this season.
Here is a team that has been competitive all year long with stints at the number one spot. This squad had an enormous boost when Kelly came back on Mar. 2 and defeated the Miami (FL) Hurricanes, who have just three losses in the ACC this season.
What You Need to Know:
Leading Scorer: Mason Plumlee 17.2 ppg)
Leading Rebounder: Mason Plumlee (10.3 rpg)
Leading Passer: Quinn Cook (5.3 apg)
Bad Loss: Maryland
Good Wins: Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Miami (FL)
Mason Plumlee has been the go-to guy for the Blue Devils thus far and if he doesn’t offer up some kind of post presence in the NCAA Tournament, this team could suffer an upset early on.
A player to keep an eye on moving forward is Seth Curry who is of course the brother of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry who won the hearts of college basketball fans across the country with his performance in 2008. Seth has some game of his own and he is going to be full-throttle in this his senior season with the program. Curry wants to go out on top, however it is going to take a team effort in such a competitive tournament.
The Duke Blue Devils are dancing!
