Record: 27-7

RPI: 21

BPI: 32

Conference: Big 12 Conference

How They Qualified: At-Large Berth

The Kansas State Wildcats were as steady as a team that there was this season. The Wildcats didn’t have a single loss this year where you left the TV scratching your head about the team they fell to. Couple that with a slew of good wins over NCAA Tournament quality teams and you have a commodity that you know what you are going to get each time they step on the floor. The team’s consistency led to them sharing the regular season Big 12 Conference title.

Bruce Weber is there in his first year as head coach. Weber has a reputation of taking other coach’s players and maximizing their potential. Sadly, he is also known to have his program’s fall-off after he gets his own enrolled in whatever school he is coaching. Enjoy the “now” K-State fans.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Rodney McGruder (15.1 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Thomas Gipson (5.2 rpg)

Leading Passer: Angel Rodriguez (5.5 apg)

Bad Losses: None

Good Wins: FloridaOklahoma State, Iowa State

Angel Rodriguez is one of those players that Weber has maxed out. Rodriguez is a vital cog in the Kansas State offensive wheel. He is one of the few players on the roster that has the ability to create his own shot and find easier ones for his teammates.

The team as a whole does a tremendous job sharing the ball and finished the regular season 11th in the nation in team assists. Even if Rodriguez or leading bucket-maker Rodney McGruder go cold, Kansas State always seems to find a way to score.

As for filling out your brackets, I wouldn’t be to wary of this squad. Not known to lose to teams they are not supposed to, only eliminate them when you know the team they are playing is better.

The Kansas State Wildcats are dancing!
