Record: 21-9
RPI: 40
BPI: 54
Conference: Atlantic 10 Conference
How They Qualified: At-Large Berth
Despite a bumpy ride down the stretch, the LaSalle Explorers are dancing. The Explorers enter the dance having lost back-to-back games and are just 3-3 over the course of their past six games, butRamon Galloway keys their success and is certainly one player to keep an eye on in this tournament.
The most impressive part of the Explorers’ selection is the fact that they are not only dancing as an at-large selection, but they have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.
What You Need to Know:
Leading Scorer: Ramon Galloway (17.0 ppg)
Leading Rebounder: Jerrell Wright (6.9 rpg)
Leading Passer: Ramon Galloway (3.8 apg)
Bad Losses: Central Connecticut State
Good Wins: Villanova, Butler, VCU
The Atlantic 10 Conference had a great year and LaSalle is one of five teams from this non-power six conference that is dancing. LaSalle was keyed by a couple big conference victories this season that certainly helped their resume. Wins over VCU and Butler put the Explorers on the radar back in late January and LaSalle was able to make the most out of that in terms of their resume.
Galloway is the key for this squad, but with a lack of NCAA Tournament experience staring them down, we will see what they bring to the table. Explorer fans can certainly be excited, but don’t expect LaSalle to just be satisfied with qualifying for the Big Dance.
