2013 NCAA Tournament Profile: North Carolina State Wolfpack
How They Qualified: At-Large Berth
The North Carolina State Wolfpack were ranked No. 6 in the AP preseason poll. Now, they aren’t even ranked. This is a team that made it to the Sweet 16 last year and returned some very key players from that team this year.
Although the Wolfpack have been somewhat of a disappointment this season, they still have plenty of talent and could easily make it to the Sweet 16 or beyond this season. However, that will take North Carolina State’s best basketball of the year to do so. With that being said however, that’s exactly what happened one year ago.
What You Need to Know:
Leading Scorer: C.J. Leslie (14.9 ppg)
Leading Rebounder: Richard Howell (10.7 rpg)
Leading Passer: Lorenzo Brown (7.2 apg)
Bad Losses: Wake Forest
Good Wins: Connecticut, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia
The two main pieces returned this season in C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown. You would think that the return of these two players and a couple of great incoming freshmen, that this team would have been ranked all season, but that was definitely not the case. With that said, North Carolina State still competed in the ACC this year and they have just as much talent as anyone in the nation.
However, Leslie needs to be the leader of this team and Brown needs to keep his turnovers under control, since he is averaging 3.5 per game on the season. With that said, 7.2 assists per game is pretty beastly in its own right.
North Carolina State definitely does not struggle when it comes to putting the ball into the hoop, since they do score 77.8 points per game, which is good enough for 12th in the nation.
The North Carolina State Wolfpack are dancing!
Pittsburgh Basketball Not Capable of Running Table
The 4-0 Pittsburgh Panthers have started their season with one of the easiest schedules in college basketball. It would be ridiculous to say they can run the table, though. Read More
