Kelley L. Cox-USA Today Sports

Record: 27-6

RPI: 31

BPI: 37

Conference: West Coast Conference

How They Qualified: At-Large Berth

The West Coast Conference has sent multiple teams to the NCAA Tournament once again. After the Gonzaga Bulldogs took care of business within the WCC Tournament, the Saint Mary’s Gaels were left to play the waiting game. Well, spearheaded by senior point guard Matthew Dellavedova, Saint Mary’s is into the field of 68 for the second consecutive season. It also marks their third such appearance since 2010 when they advanced all the way to the Sweet 16.

Dellavedova has been apart of each of those three NCAA Tournament squads in his four season as a Gael and the Australian-native provides this squad with a little bit of everything. A true, veteran leader with plenty of postseason experience can make this team a difficult out for any opponent inside the field.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Matthew Dellavedova (15.8 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Brad Waldrow (6.1 rpg)

Leading Passer: Matthew Dellavedova (6.4 apg)

Bad Losses: Pacific, Northern Iowa, Georgia Tech

Good Wins: Harvard, BYU (twice)

The Gaels do not have the talent this season that they had during that Sweet 16 run back in 2010, but Saint Mary’s certainly cannot be taken lightly. Aside from those two tournament victories a few years back, the Gaels’ program had not won a game within the Big Dance since 1959.

Everything aside, we will see if they are capable of picking up a tournament victory here in 2013.

The Saint Mary’s Gaels are dancing!
